Well my magic has worn off. I knew it wouldn't last forever but I was crushed last night when I fed L at 9:45pm and the magic drug of mom's milk didn't knock her out cold for the night like almost every other night in the last six months. Instead it knocked her out and I enjoyed cuddling her in my arms for 10 minutes and then when I put her in the crib she woke up screaming. As soon as I picked her up she stopped so I thought if I just fed her a little more she would have her tummy full and be fast asleep but no, she wasn't hungry, she just wanted to be held. T told me it was time to let her cry it out and I agreed but five minutes later I rushed in her room thinking I could just rock her to sleep - she clamored and arched her back and squirmed until I put her back in the crib. She immediately started screaming so T took her downstairs in the dark (to not wake up M) and walked around with her and she did eventually fall asleep - T said she just got tired of listening to him sing - but as soon as we put her to bed she woke up again. She just wanted to be awake and held, so we went downstairs and watched TV and I finally fed her again and she went to sleep around midnight. We went to sleep thinking that was a long couple hours but at least she is asleep. Well - I woke up at 4:30am to L screaming and Daddy very frustrated as she was on her stomach and he was trying desperately to put a diaper on her. He told me to go back to bed and that he could get her back to sleep. Well when the alarm went off at 5:15am no T in bed so I figured he fell asleep on the couch so I went downstairs and pumped. That's when I heard noise from the basement. Both L and T had been awake since 4:30am. 4 1/2 hours of sleep is not enough for an adult let alone a seven month old baby (or demon child). She stayed awake though everyone getting ready and leaving the house. It wasn't until the car trip to daycare that she fell asleep. Poor T, he promptly took her out of the carseat at daycare (which woke her up) and told the daycare lady not to let her sleep any extra today so tonight is not a repeat performance of last night. So if either one of us is a little punchy today, you know why.
